Interesting science fiction story by Gogol, man was injected with a serum that gave immortality, not knowing he had been infected with a fatal disease.
The disease became immortal also. He was in a vegetative state but couldn't die. The disease would not die. Stalemate. So they buried him anyhow.

Death is not part of life, it can't be since it is the antithesis of life. It is against everything Life is. Death was added later, to keep us from living forever.
Yes, my religion growing up taught that all man would live forever on Paradise on Earth. That one day we would "perhaps" be allowed to study the stars, but always call Earth home. That the Earth would never die and the Universe, through God's power would be renewed and last forever. Sounds nice.

Great question! My answer is 'yes' but that comes with circumstances that would have to be provided! I would love to live forever, if others could live forever with me. I have no interest in living forever to see people come and go through my life with no one to remain with me. If living forever means not growing old and feeble, then yes. If it means that not only life will be forever, but sickness will be done away with , then yes. No more sickness, no tears of grief, yes I could go for that! The last restriction I would have to insist on if I gained eternal life would be for all bad people to disappear with death. In a world like that I would want to live forever.

The question of living forever is very complex and depends on a number of factors. For me, life is about growing, discovering, exploring and learning. If all my loved ones kept passing away while I lived on I would only grow lonelier and lonelier I think. For me, life would only be worth living if I had good health and if I could gain wisdom with my years.
In a nutshell 'It's the life in your years that counts rather than the years in your life'.

Well in some religions you will live forever in spirit form, some religions believe in reincarnation so you will live again. Some people believe once you die that is it... The body is just a shell. I believe I would NOT like to live forever... that is a long time to be on a synical planet. I would however like to live long enough to see my grandchildren one day...
my father past away when he was 40 and I was 17, so I would like to see him again... then again maybe I believe in reincarnation and I will meet him here on earth again... there is so much room for thought on this subject.
But that is a great question...btw

i would not decide for to stay for ever, I even have one objective of you i'm in this earth i do no longer understand what it is yet sooner or later i'm going to understand. To be honest i might extremely die at 30 then stay perpetually, i could no longer stay til this international ends. absolutely everyone has a objective in existence after i hit upon mine i'll die & they get the possibility to return into the international & discover theirs.

Maybe not forever, a few billion years would probably satisfy me.
