Black is hot
White is neutral
Green is ground
Red is the switch leg
the black in the ceiling outlet box would be for a ceiling fan
if you want your light switched the connect the red to the black of the fixture..the others color to color

generally that would indicate the fixture is attached to a switch.
usually the black wire in a switched circuit goes from the hotwire (black) from the breaker box to the switch. The red wire delivers the current back from the switch to the fixture.
The white (common) and green (ground) on the fixture connect to the white and bare wire in the box.

That would certainly pose a quandry wouldn't it. I'm thinking if I was installing this thing, the first thing I'd do is find out which of the two pairs, (bl/wh, rd/wh), is controlled by the wall switch. Then connect your bl & wh wires from the fixture to those two. Should work. I'd put a wire nut on the dead one just to be safe. (Can't imagine why a ceiling electrical box would have a three wire configuration, unless you're in a commercial building. )

The red is for the light kit on a ceiling fan. Screw a wire nut on it and stuff it in the junction box. Then connect black to black, white to white, ground to ground.
