The theory that temporary insanity is real says that it lasts as long as the subject is in a situation and environment that is causing so much strain on the mind that the loss of sanity takes place. When the person is removed from the setting or the cause of the TI then the balance of sanity takes back over.

It could last a very long time. You know when it has worn off when reality sets in. And when you have to face punshiment or consequences. If you did something wrong.

Temporarily. If it goes away, you'll know how long it lasts, and if it doesn't, its not temporary.
But insanity is a legal term anyways, not a medical.
