We could educate more people about spanking if there were regular classes. Here you could demonstrate on the participants the effects of different paddles, belts, whips, etc. Once they were knowledgeable about spanking, they would do it more.

I was spanked as a kid, though not very often. I used spanking on my son, and it just made him angry and defiant, not obedient. I had to find other things that would work, like time-outs and taking away privileges and toys. I think that what matters most is not what form the discipline takes, but that it is tailored to the child. I don't believe that spanking occasionally as a substitute for the natural consequences is harmful (instead of letting a kid run into the street, for example.) But frequent spankings no matter what the issue tend to teach kids that hitting is a reasonable solution to a disagreement, and that all bad behaviors are equally dangerous.

And I don't believe you can "educate" someone who spanks without seeming like you're interfering in their business.

well, i guess the biggest things children get spanked for is for being childish, not bad, like fighting, deliberately making another child cry, or writing on the wall. something childish would be when they embarrass their parents, offend somebody who's older, stick gum on the cats fur, etc. children do not mean to do these things for they are innocent and new to this world, thus they don't know any better. i believe that those who spank should be able to differentiate in what is childish and what is bad, and when the child does do something bad, that the spanking is done with the hand and not a belt, rope, extension cord or orange race car track.

I am not sure what you are asking here. I feel spanking has it's place for some children and some parents. It is not for all.

As far as educating a spanker, you have lost me.

I think that spankings are a good way of discipline a child and letting them no who's in charge. But I don't believe in taking it too far. Spankings mold a child...this is why white children are soo damn disrespectful because their parents don't believe in spankings. Every child needs spankings once in a while BUT you don't need to go overboard!

A School for Spankers? Interesting idea - the end-of-term exams would be well worth watching.

Any vacancies for tutors?

Children look for their parents as how to handle situations. We role model behavior. When parents show that violence is an acceptable way to deal with problems then the children will accept that and it will become ingrained. Violence be-gits violence. Peace be-gits peace. If a parents spanks a child then they should not be surprised when their now 14 year old hit another student instead of talk things out. Its NEVER ok to use any violence toward a child.

Well I feel spanking work sometimes, but only if it's necessary. I feel it is necessary when your child is out of control. My mother spanked me and I turned out to be a great person, spanking don't hurt you just have to know when to do it.

I was spanked as a child, occasionally as an adult as well :) I think kids need a good smack every now and then to keep them in line. Nothing major, just a tap to show them who's boss.
