What a great idea! It would be wonderful if part of every family's Christmas tradition involved a family project to help those who are in need.
All of the above recommendations are very good ones. If a church or some local organization would or could help you identify people that are in particular need, what about an anonymously mailed card with cash inside? Winter bills.. christmas for their own loved ones..let them decide how to allocate their mysterious gift from the Magi.
Thanks for making my day.

I am a single mother of two disabled teenagers. I was recently diagnosed with Epilepsy and DDD. and a condition that is affecting my central nervous system. I have applied for SSI and am waiting to hear back. In the meantime my kids have been so wonderful through all of this and I would love for them to have a nice christmas. Right now we are struggling to just keep our house. We live in Belfair, WA, and I don't know where to even start. We don't know anyone in the community and I don't drive anymore due to the seizures. If there is anybody out there who knows of any way to help it would be so greatly appreciated. I tried some places, but we missed the deadline or my kids were too old. My kids are so awesome they told me it didn't matter as long as we are together. My son will be 15 on the 15th and my daughter is 14 also. They really are blessings to me. Thank you.

There are many great organizations, which you can look into. Churches, food banks, homeless shelters or women shelters are a great start. Another awesome organization is the Angel Tree Organization. They provide gifts to the children whose parents are incarcerated (in prison.) Wow, talk about a worthwhile cause!! I'm hoping they are available on the internet, if not check with your local churches or Focus on the Family.Org, should have some info. Have an awesome holiday!!!

I have a close friend who is an employee of the Salvation Army and she says this is not available online. But you can go to the nearest Salvation Army church and sign up there. It's done in their office M-F during regular business hours.

Our community has angel trees in schools and local stores with children's names on them. We also have a "help center" and "Dept. of Human Services" that can aid you in helping families. Also, our church collects foods, and needed items for local families of need and feeds them supper one night and gives children gifts from Santa.

There is the Good Samaritan, you can always do a food bank, take your old stuff to Goodwill, foster a pet or child.

We do this almost every year. Call you red cross or your local churches. They always have a list of families.

Can't help you there. But while you're looking, why not try and adopt a family for the other 364 days of the year.
