I always like a man in a black or charcoal pin strip suit. He usually looks really sharp.
However having said that. My suggestion to you would be to go to a nice men's clothing store and try on suits. Find the one that looks best for your body shape and your skin tone. It may be really pricey but you can get an idea of what looks good on you. Have the snotty clerk there help you. Take someone with you who has good taste in clothes to help you. You don't need to buy it there. Now that you know what looks good on you, go to a discount clothing store and try to find the closest match to the expensive suit.
Some day when you make it big as a lawyer go back and buy the expensive suit. Or have a tailor made suit designed just for you. Either will be a classic that you can wear for years to come.

You can't go wrong with Grey.. black can be to formal., in certain situations..a good color for a business suit is Grey. you can get different color ties to dress it up or down. if you are spending money on a quality suit, make sure you don't buy cheap ties.

Take it from me another man.....Get either Black, or charcol. Avoid pinstripes because they may become out of style and you dont want to be date. Black is always versatile, you can make the same suit look different on daily basis by just wearing a different color shirt and tie

Black or Dark Navy. Don't forget the tie and the correct knot for the tie. The tie knot will depend on the type of collar. Most guys blow it by having the wrong knot for their collar.

Dark grey or dark blue. Take along a friend who's a stylish dresser when you go looking, and ask their opinion when you try them on.

go with a deep blue, navy blue.
a navy suit is appropriate for all occasions.
just plain navy, no pinstripes, nothing.
with a navy suit you can wear it throughout all the seasons.
its your best bet.
