The First UFO Sighting?

Subject: The First UFO Sighting?
Hi all,
I know the following will probably cause a difference of
opinion, but does anyone have an answer to the question?
It is not clear whether the person is talking about the very
first sighting(!), the first alleged landing, or perhaps even
the first alleged landing in the USA. Mention of the late 1800's
could mean the airship wave.
Unfortunately I do not know the name of the person asking the
question.

Subject: I have a question about UFO's
To: webmaster@ufoinfo.com
Dear Sir,
I have a question about UFO's. I want to know when and where
the first UFO sighting occured. I have heard that it was in
Lodi, CA during the late 1800's. Also it was reported by an
army general who said a craft landed and little men came out and
tried to take him in the craft but he didn't go. I have no idea
if this is true but if you know I would deeply appreciate it.
Please e-mail ASAP at this address:
hololog@aol.com

Replies can be made direct or via the list for me to forward.
Thanks in advance,
John Hayes

I've seen quit a few of them.
There is an object in the sky ~ it is flying ~ and I can't make out what it is....! Therefore, it is an 'Object' that is in 'Flight' and it is 'Unidentified,' and thus a genuine 'UFO,' though likely not within the definition parameters wanted here.
[ It could be a plane, it could be a helicopter, but for one reason or another, I'm unable to recognise it. ]
At the back of the University of Bath a few years ago, I watched a helicopter one night hovering over a golf course.
It was at night (about 11:30pm) and a clear night.
The copter had flashing position lights switched on, and I could see it for what it was because although it was painted a 'darkly,' it reflected all the lights from the student accommodation and university buildings (and there was a lot of light too).
I switched off my light and opened my window to see if I could get a better view, and realised that although I could observe it, and in spite of it being between a quarter and a half mile away, I couldn't hear it.
I'd also swear that I could (again because of reflection) see that that was some form of rope hanging from it - before it silently flew off.
A neighbour (some years later) who was in the RAF, on being told about this, said something to the effect that, 'It was likely some Army night training,' but was not forthcoming about the 'silent' aspect.
Not exactly pertinent to your question, but possibly of interest to someone!
Sash.

UFO's have been around for 1000's of years. Nobody knows who the first person to see one is. There are cave drawings of UFO's and astronauts that are many thousands of years old.
If you mean in modern times i'm clueless. But I do remember Barney and Betty Hill being the first people to report being abducting by aliens.

The Lord Yhovah of the Old Testament, who became the Lord Jesus of the New Testament, is described as flying in thick clouds, swift clouds, bright clouds, dark clouds, white clouds, low clouds, great clouds, and fiery clouds. And that's only the clouds. There are also the platforms, vessels, whirling chariots of fire, sky thrones, fiery horses, cherubims, thick darkness, great fire, whirlwinds, fiery wheels, pavilions, dark waters, storms, sky dwellings, rolls, and sanctuaries. Whether or not one believes these objects are actually flying vehicles that the God of the Bible lives in, appears with, travels in, and is considered the seat of his power, is a matter of opinion. The fact that they do not appear without him or his ambassadors and that, in most major appearances, he and other beings are clearly described as directly associated with these flying objects, is undeniable.
