No. I never breastfed my little girl and the only time she gets a runny nose or anything is when she is teething. Chicken pox was going around my town and she is the only baby that did not get them and she played with some of the babies in town that got chicken pox. Don't let people tell you that because you do not breast feed your baby she will be sick all the time. It is not true at all. I hope this helps you out some.

They don't "lose" their defenses. Breast feeding is a chance to introduce all the anti-bodies you have developed in your life to the baby's new immune system. They get most of the immune training during pregnancy, but it's not quite enough. The longer you breast feed, the more of your immune system they absorb. It has been found that giving antibiotics weakens a person's defenses, as the body uses them and doesn't train itself to fight. My doctor e,ployed these beliefs when I was a child, and consequently I never get sick. My sister, on the other hand, had a different Pedtrc. Doctor, who didn't believe this was the case, and guess what... she is always sick.
Breast-feeding is definitely the prelude to a healthy life. It is extremely important. I realize that some women cannot breastfeed, and that's not their fault.

Babies are born with immature immune systems so they are more vulnerable to infection during the first few months and even years of their life: as they get older and are exposed to germs their immune systems develop and they become stronger. Breastfeeding is mother nature's way of boosting a baby's immunity while they are tiny and vulnerable. Breastfed babies are less likely to become sick than babies who are not breastfed, because they have this additional protection.

i could get a 2nd opinion, if the dr grew to become into that slack to allow you recognize 6 mths in the past i does no longer pass lower back. If she's been having breast milk for six mths and as you're saying she's forward on milestones and weight i could save giving breast milk till you get a 2nd opinion to make certain the two way. i do no longer likely have faith in sueing i think of it occurs too in lots of cases yet i could extremely write a letter to whoever is in cost and prehaps get some television modern-day affairs tutor to do a narrative there may be different people who are not as fortunate with a healthful toddler, people do might desire to renowned and that may not unavoidably take place by way of sueing them.

I suspect you mean disease defenses. No they do not lose it it is just not as strong as if you breast feed.
As they nurse babies get the antibodies that are in your body to help fight off infections. Because of this breast feeding makes for stronger babies than those bottle fed.

Babies are born with a very immature immune system. Breastfeeding helps to protect them and helps develop their immune systems. Babies benefit from the immune factors in breastmilk for the ENTIRE time that they are nursing.

If I understood your ? right, you are asking if a formula fed baby has protection against colds and such and the answer is no which is why it is so important to breastfeed. It isnt something babies are born with, they need to get it through their mother's breastmilk... so a formula fed baby has no protection from birth. A breastfed baby has the most protection when s/he is being nursed exclusively, so that I believe is where you have heard the 6mth timeframe from as that is typically when solids are introduced and the protection starts to diminish.
I see there are some who dont like my answer so I'll add more info on here to support my claim. Sorry if I was too hasty in saying newborns are not protected when in fact they have a SMALL amt of protection via their own very much immature immune system and through the placenta during delivery. This I just learned when reading the article I refer to below:
The deadly influence of formula in America
By Dr. Linda Folden Palmer
Infant formula was designed to be a medical nutritional tool for babies who are unable to breastfeed. Formula does not fully meet the nutritional and immunity needs of infants, leaving their immune systems flailing. An infant’s immune system has three aspects: her own immature, developing immune system; the small component of immunities that passes through the placenta during natural childbirth (and to a lesser degree with premature births and cesarean sections); and the most valuable, living portion that is passed on through mother’s milk on an ongoing basis. Remove any of these components and you take away a vital support structure.
This brings us face to face with the safety and effectiveness of infant formula as a breast milk substitute. Is formula actually as safe as we have been led to believe? In fact, the answer is a resounding “no.” In fact, the use of infant formula doubles the risk of infant death for American babies

Breast milk does provide a stonger immune system. Your immune system is your primary defence against other virus, bacteria and parasites. I would not say that a child will lose all their defences, but their defences (immune system) will be significantly weaker when compared to other children.

No, you have it turned around a bit. Breastfed babies benefit from their mother's immune system for about 6 months, after that their immune system is just as susceptible as any other baby's.
