OK, I have this dilemma that I run across at least once a month when I clean my house. What is the correct sequence for vaccuuming and dusting? Do you dust first, then stir up more dust when you vacuum or do you vacuum first and then push the dust on the floor when you are dusting. Help!!! I just want to do it all right.

If you are as consciencious about house cleaning as it sounds then you dust regularly. So if i were you i would vaccum first and then dust since the amount of dust a vaccum cleaner is going to kick up (no matter how good of one it is) will be more than any dust you would come across while dusting. And if you are using pledge or something..or even a swifer dust cloth, very little if any is going to get onto the floor.
The only time i would do this in reverse is if you are doing dusting in an area that isn't dust regularly and there is a large amount of dust. Then it would be better to vaccum after you dust.

I have done it both ways and I think it is better to vacuum then dust. While you are dusting, most of it picks up anyway if you use Pledge or any other cleaner. There's really not much that is going to fall on the floor...if there is any.

Dust first. If your vacuum is stirring up dust, your filter needs cleaning.

You can get filtering vac bags which stops most of the circulation of dust. Still I would dust last, I don't think there is a way to stop all the circulation of dust from the vac, but the filtering bags do help a great deal.
