Yes, if the ride height is otherwise stock this will make the bike steer a bit quicker and finish the corner properly. On both my 99 and 04 I either slid my forks or raised the rear to get the bike handling well. It will also be slightly higher geared.

I found the following at ebay.

This brand new Power Race 190/55/17 Medium compound DOT legal racing tire is on a new level of sport bike performance. This rear tire runs at 22 psi on the track, and 26 psi on the street. It has Michelins new 2CT technology, and I have personally mounted these tires on riders bikes who have broken 17 track records this year. There is no stickier 190 DOT available anywhere, period.

I currently have 3 plugs in the back and 1 in the front ( i need to stop riding between the lanes where all the road debris ends up). I know i will get grief for this, but here goes..... I stopped paying bike shops to patch my tyres from the inside when they started charging me $95 a pop, i bought a repair kit for $15, a CO2 pump for $100 and i plug them myself, from the outside, with cheap crap vulcanised (?) rubber strips. Out in the sticks i can pull a nail (usually a roofing screw though), patch it, inflate the tyre and be back on the road in 10 minutes. I don't ride any slower with them in and ive never had any problems with them, they last the life of the tyre. Having said all that, if either tyre blows one out at any respectable speed there is going to be more R1 spares on the market.

Yes they will work. The weight bias will be shifted to the front and you will pick up about 5mph extra in each gear.
