i disagree with the second person to answer. when you write poems or songs, you just write. it doesn't have to make complete sense. they broke up, and he has a new girl, but they still call each other. while he's talking to her he realises that he wants to be with her still, and so does she. it just means that he's being the typical guy. the girl's probably really pretty, and he most likely liked her lips, not always for the stupid shallow reason either.

She probably has a pretty pout and looks angelic. And he's horny. I think the song is incredibly tacky. There have been far classier songs about the topic. Gavin Degraw's "Nice To Meet You Anyway" is a prime example. "Lips of an Angel" is a song for bored housewives to listen to and dream of ways to cheat on their husbands. It's stupid.

well dont people usually think girls are "angels"? u know like "you're an angel" kind of thing. so a girl would have the lips of an angel.

the way I see it somewhat is they have been fans and the chop up up from resons it doesnt say in the song.... they the two ended up with human beings...he loves the girl he's with yet he never have been given over his emotions for the different female...the "different female" calls him crying as a results of fact she misses him your time-honored tragic love song
