Try Imagine Their Not There I Mean..Their Only People Think Of What You Would Think When Someone Was Dancing Infront Of You On Stage And Thats What They Will Think So Don't Worry !..But If That Doesn't Help, Try Imagine Them In Their Underwear So Their Not So Scary Lol, Hope That Helps x

Nothing wrong with dancing in public. I don't know why it suprises me, that a Native American such as you, would have stage fright.
Just relax, rehearse and do your best. Don't worry about perfection. Nervous is understandable, unless you're a Nelly. Smile, too, if inspired to. It's been years since I've been to a Pow Wow. But the last time, the Turkey Dance was done great! And I think you'll do fine, too.

Well what I do when I ever have to sing or dance in a group of people, I say to myself, "I'm not the only person up here, not all the attention is on me. So maybe if I look good a group of people are looking, let them look. Give them a great show! Do the dancing and singing not only because you like to, do it because the audience wants somthin good. Give them that somthin and make them happy, go home happy :)

You are so lucky! Dance was something I always wanted to do. Do you know how people envy dancers? I do! It is an art and those with the gift should use it and be happy and proud that they have that gift. Smile and love every minute of it and know there is someone who envies you and every dancer out there!

I don't like it either, the trick is to go inside yourself to an area where concentration is all inside. Let your body movements come from memory and feelings but within yourself you are hidden. Keep thinking 'yes this is wonderful, I am beautiful, I can do this. It really is a mindset and I feel your fear. Remember you can do anything you put your mind to, the mind is the most powerful tool after all!

Just pretend like you are in practice. I used to do that when I had to get in a large group. It really works. Don't look at the people staring at you, look over them and stare at something else. Good Luck

just focus on the fact that you will be in a group, so not everyone will be focusing on you. also, whenever i have to get in front of a group, i sort of haze everybody over - don't focus on anyone's face, just sort of let the audience get out of focus. keep your eyes above everyone's heads, and keep thinking relaxing thoughts. and most of all, HAVE FUN!!!!! just relax, no harm is going to come to you even if you do badly...if your friends are compassionate they will understand if you are not a good dancer!

I guess you can pretend that you and your group are the only ones there for the moment.

I had the same problem. Until just one day I said "who cares what others think!" and just did it for myself.
