when i try too watch videos on the yahoo webcam viewer all i get is a blank screen

Active X has nothing to do with java. . . .
Dude, go here http://chat.yahoo.com/cab/yvwrctl.cab#version=1,0,0,16 - That should prompt you to install the newest Active X control. Just click yes.
If that doesn't work try http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/chat/webcams/index.html
To those who answered before me. . . . You should be asking questions, not trying to answer questions you obviously know nothing about.

You need to allow Active X in the security settings/control panel and disable popblocker

I had this problem and found that I'd been disabling the Java Active X control with my cleaning program. I therefore had to re-install Java. If you have Java, first uninstall it via your computer control panel, then go to http://www.java.com and install it again. It worked for me so hopefully it will for you too.

By any chance, do you have the latest version of Java installed? If it needs active X, you'll get a message to "click here".....and it will install what it needs.
