The kilt is part of the national dress of Scotland. Accounts of who invented the first kilt vary, but whoever did, the Scots certainly have come to own it. The rational explanation for the wearing of kilts appears to be that they are suitable for climbing the rough hills of the Scottish highland.
After the 1745 rebellion and the defeat of Bonnie Prince Charlie, the wearing of kilts was banned by the British government in an attempt to quash the individuality of the dissident Scots.
Now that it is perfectly legal, a Scotsman is now doubly proud to show his national pride by the wearing of the kilt, especially on formal occasions.

The short kilt like they wear today is a Victorian era invention and the Scots wear it to distinguish themselves from everyone else (very sad really). If they wore the long kilt then I would give them some respect,

you, as a woman, can never know. Your male friends can find out - it's enough to wear it once. of course, you have to do it properly.

Trust me, you will NEVER have a bad night out if you're wearing a kilt.

Because the Highland Scots cannot sew for toffee and they cannot make trews so a bit of cloth wrapped around the nethers was the only way to be half decently clothed
