It's the red bellied piranha fish, which can reach over 18" in length quite comfortably and lives in cannibalistic shoals. They're native to the Amazon basin in South America.
Red bellied piranha are voracious predators and will pounce on injured, bleeding or even dead animals in the water, and that DOES include human beings.
A good sized shoal of these nasties can strip a large cow or horse to the bone in a few minutes.
They use their two rows of razor sharp teeth to tear and rend flesh from the prey.
Red bellied piranha can be kept in aquariums and make an attractive yet somehow sinister attraction. They must be fed meat and kept only in a species tank with other red bellied piranha, as they will simply attack and eat any other fish. If you visit a fish shop you will undoubtedly see a tank with some piranha in for sale, and you'll notice that some of the fish will be injured. Fights amongst the group are commonplace and piranha will quite readily turn on each other if food is scarce.

the black piranha! no such thing as a black bellied piranha the most vicious of all piranha family, will not tolerate any tank buddys! and are banned in your warmer states!

The most dangerous Piranha is the red bellied piranha latin name Serrasalmus nattereri. It can grow to12 inches or more.

Red bellied. Although they generally only attack weak or injured animals or fish. There are also vegetarian Piranha.

pirahnas are not really ferocious, if its well fed you c an put your hand into it no problem so the RIGHT answer to this question is "A REALLY HUNGRY ONE"
