do you mean as in drunk... or its a case of 'you look really nice in that new top'.. No I dont it makes me look ....? sort of scenario.
Sometimes people behave that way because they either lack confidence in themselves or they are looking for compliments all the time. if its the latter don't rise to it.

Yes I actually have the same sort of friend problem and she does that to me all the time. I hate it and so do my other friends but no matter what we do or say she always says the opposite of it. I try to tell her one thing like she's pretty and she says she's ugly and fat even though she's supper skinny. I hate but I deal with it and so should you because a friend is what they need the most right now.

she may get pissed, but i'd bet in reality she is anything but.

if cutting herself down yields a positive response:
ie. you complimenting her,
the natural tendency will be for her to continue.

She can only feel justified in (or okay about) repeating this behavior if she denies your claims:
ie. getting pissed

This may be conditional reflex between stimulus and reponse:
In other words, she may not be consciously aware of her behavior, which is reinforcing the compliments

If she simply agreed with you, she would not allow herself the future luxuries of repeating her behavior

next time she cuts her self down agree with her, then tell her that since she thinks she so horrible she might as well kill herself.
if she doesnt kill herself she obvesily doesnt really think she is that bad. tell her to stop being a pussy and deal with life or shut the **** up already and off herself.

seriously she is prolly just looking for compliments. and when u hand them out she acts upset because she doesn't wanna make her self look like she is.
just punch her in the stomach next time she does it.

Bug me yes - but you need to try and understand where she is coming from too. All you can be is supportive and honest with her.

Sounds like she has a self-esteem problem..... could be she's been called names by people who supposedly love her and now she can't accept anything nice that someone has to say - because she doesn't deserve it..... those are deep roots.

i have a friend like that and i get that they are stressed out and all..but i let her be..it's her lifee..i can't necessarily make her stop when that's her way of letting out stress, of course she knows that i care for her and i'm concerned so she stopped for a while.. you should jst tell her that your only concerned and your jst making sure she's alright..maybe that would help

yes it would, i have a friend that does that as well -- i just stopped trying to tell her differently - then i think because i wasn't giving her any attention for doing it she stopped....

good luck!
