You can't stop spam being sent. You can try to filter it out.
Any unsubscribe button in a spam e-mail is probebly fake - you can't unsubscribe from something that you didn't subscribe to in the first place!
Its best never to open an e-mail if you don't recognise the sender. Some e-mails are tests to see if your address is active. If you open the e-mail it sends a message back to the spammer; they then sell your address on to others.
Don't publish your e-mail address anywhere. Have a private address just for friends and family and a seperate one for signing up to programs and so on, and once the spam starts to ome in just set up a new one, give out the address and delete the old address. Free Yahoo accounts are ideal for this.

Download a program that will filter out spam and delete it. Trend Micro and McAfee have a utility. There are others, free as well. Look about.

Google - Spam Filter Download

Create a name made up of obscure numbers and letters, the spammers won't waste time trying to break it, they'll move on to easier targets.
