AMD Athlon 64!

2006-10-21 10:05:06 · answer #1 · answered by midnightlydy 6 · 8 0

Okay I am not going to insult Serenity because clearly she has attempted to research this and unfortunately has found some very old data.

Anway, to answer your question the Athlon 64 is clearly superior to the Celeron. If you look at the benchmarks I have provided you will find that the Athlon 64s are routinely beating there Pentium 4 counterparts, and of course Celerons are just cut down Pentiums. It is hard to tell sometimes because there are some Pentiums that beat some Athlon 64s, but if you compare two equally priced versions that came out at the same time, the Athlon 64 is almost always the winner.

No, the Intel, and Intel is far superior to any AMD put out right now. Go to the Intel website and locate the comparision charts. You can select any processor from different areas and compare them side by side.

From what I have learned on many websites which publish benchmark studies, even the slowest Celeron is superior to ANY AMD processor out today. While AMD is working to put out a more competitive product, they simply have not made it yet. Look at the pricing difference and you will see that AMD is lower priced than the Celeron. There IS a reason for this price difference and it is NOT the Intell name brand. It is due to the Intel being the better product. Just as in Video cards price does matter and does reflect quality.

In processors and video cards pricing does tell the true tale here. So, do some research of your own and don't just take anyone's word for your own before purchasing any computer. When you do your own research it really helps in feeling confident when making a purchase. Good luck and have a nice day!

p.s. While typing this others answered this question too, and I have to add a few comments to what they are stating here. A AMD processor simply is not yet competitive with ANY Intel processor. I have read many benchmark studies and it clearly shows that the Celeron is superior to anything AMD has out to date even with the heating cooling problem it currently has. So, just do your own homework, or research and don't just take our word for it here. Go to this site:

http://www.howstuffworks.com

Once there click on the Computers Tab and then in the selection box locate How Processors Work. Read what it says there and at the end of the article there are other links to further information. There you can read some benchmark studies, read the one about Intel and competing brother products. It has some great info which will get you started in the right area, then go to the Intel website and locate the comparison charts. It is fun doing the research on the available processors and which ones out perform the other and what problems are on board each one. At least it was fun for me! lol

Good luck and have a great day!

they does no longer be different sufficient to rely. the celeron certainly overclocks greater effective, so in case you desire that then bypass with the celeron. in any different case i could bypass with regardless of works out greater much less costly.
