They had to back down if they wanted their benefactor, China, to stay happy. If they go back on their word, then China will look foolish, so China has taken a big risk with North Korea.

North Korea did not "back down". The government, such as it is, of North Korea, "stepped back" to evaluate their options. The U.S. has "stepped back" many times to do the same.
The social, economic, and political future of many people throughout the world can be impacted by the choices that are now facing the U.S., China, and North Korea.

for fxxk sake yes. and not many people new they have as what a low profile the press have lead us down.
The united nations in the end would have backed the Americans and we would have such a large number of loss of life. And for what for.. And what about the damage they have done to the area of testing. We still have fall out from all the tests that all the other nations have done in the past.
