Yes and lighter in the morning.

yes, we get lighter mornings in October when we put the clocks back, the downside is it gets dark earlier. We do get a lie-in next Sunday morning, which I think is about as close as we get to hibernating.
In the spring it's the opposite! We lose an hour's sleep, we have to get up! But then we get almost instant long evenings of daylight. Wonderful!

No!! Sunrise and sunset stay at the same time, it is only the arbitrary time clock which changes when we perceive the hours of daylight to start and end. In the winter we go back to GMT which is the nearest natural time for most of the country. BST really only suits those who live in the South East of the UK. Instead of trying to bend time to suit an arbitrary requirement of Eurocrats we would all be better off letting our bodies comply with natural time or a standardised norm all year which would be GMT for most of the country.

Yes, dark earlier in the evenings and light earlier in the mornings. Something to do with safety for children going to school.
Ps. You won't get an extra hour in bed, when the clocks go back you lose an hour so you'll get an hour less in bed.............Doh!

If it gets dark at say 6pm now, when the clocks go back it will be 5pm. So lighter mornings and darker evenings.

IT WAS DONE SO THAT IT WOULD BE LIGHT EARLEIR IN THE MORNING SO THAT THE FARMERS HAD EXTRA TIME DURING THE WAR AND WE HAD BLACKOUTS SO THE ENEMY WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO SEE WHERE TO ATTACK. YOUR QUESTION IS IF IT GOES DARK A HALF SIX , ID THE CLOCKS GO BACK AN HOUR IT WILL THEN GO DARK AT HALF FIVE .

it gets dark at the same time - because we change our clocks it appears to us as though it is darker an hour earlier.

Yes, and I don't like it because that means I'm usually going to work when it's dark out and that doesn't feel right.
