Can someone please tell me how to reformat my computer step by step. thanks!

I do not what kind of Hard disk Drive you have. You will need to find out the manufacturer of your Hard Disk Drive. Then if you go to their website you can download a Disk Utility called ' Disk Manager' or something similar. This will enable you to format your Hard Disk drive( without the option of re-installing your Operating system).
Before you do any kind of Format remember that you should back-up all your Files.
Another way to format your Hard Disk drive is to use your Operating System installation CD-ROM.
To do this you have to go into the BIOS Setup of your Computer. This is done by hitting DEL Key, F1 Key etc ( it may vary from Computer to Computer) and then making your CD-ROM Drive the First boot Device. Now you have to save this setting and reboot the computer with the Operating System CD in the Drive. The computer will start formatting the Drive and the process of Operating System Installation.

1. Put whatever files you want to keep on a disk.
2. Reboot, press F8. Click on reboot to the last safe time. If that doesn't work.
3. See if a restoration CD came with your computer. If it did, put it in and reboot. Follow instructions.
4. Get a windows XP disk. Put it in. Boot computer. Follow instructions.

get a bootable floppy disk or a bootable cd first. a bootable cd with MS DOS 6.22 loaded on it will be best. insert the cd and select Cd-rom as the boot device (use respective function keys at the first screen). after loading dos....
type
Format c:\ and press enter
it will ask for confirmation... say yes
at the end of the format it will ask for a disk label.... write any label you want.
And yup... its done.
Dont forget u will have to install a fresh copy of Windows\Linux after formatting

Download a program like Partition Logic, Burn the ISO to a disk and boot off it.
