ok, you know me, i don't eat candy.
but i know someone who does, and she never lets it get even close to the expiration date, especially if it is choclate!

5 years old. Honest. We went on a cruise out of New Orleans over the New Year celebration between 1999 and 2000 (the so called millenium New year). We recieved Chocolate candy with the year and cruise name on it. I put it in the Freezer and had forgotten all about it until last year. Still good, too, and I do not believe that was the cause for my intestinal problems for the next few days, either.

If it's out of date I wont eat it, not even chocolate.
Stale food is awful, so I would have to guess at about six months old.
It is difficult to know for sure how old candy and chocolate is. They should have the manufacture date on them.
Have you ever noticed the use by dates on Easter eggs?
They have a fairly short time till expiration.
Makes me think they produce them immediately for the following year.

l've eaten candy that was over 40 years old. when l was a little kid some friends and l broke into some shelters from World War 2, there was many food items such as cracker's and sugar candy balls which were preserved and sealed in big cans. They were still fresh and we used to eat them.

Well - no old candy here but how about a 51 year old piece of wedding fruit cake? From my Grandparents wedding - it was - umm - well lets say seconds were not on high demand - but memorable it was (happened back in 1996)

I ate an M&M that I lost in class when I was in highschool the year before, so it was about a year and a half old. Friend dared me to eat it. Didn't do anything. Of course I have some sort of super immune system.

I ate a 3 year old lolipop and it was still good. Also i ate a 1 year old chocolate it was on the fridge, so i ate it.
