I faxed my termination letter, my commmisions due sheet and my claim for wage sheet to businesses that my or may not know me or my previous employer.
Did I do anything illegal?

It could be. As long as the company does not have a disclosure policy that you signed either before, during or post employment.

you are free to give out any of your personal information that you want to, The company you work for can not give that info out without your consent.

Now accidents happen, so if even the company did it by accident you may not find them liable.

You may wish to contact the place you sent it to, and ask them to destroy it.
