There's really two ways to answer this one.

1) Socially Acceptable - The "normal" socially acceptable age is typically16-17 years old for door-to-door trick-or-treating. After that, it's down to simply going to gatherings and parties. The one exception for that rule is if you are a parent or grandparent, etc. dressing up and going along with a child.

2) The Real Age Limit - The real age limit for going trick-or-treating is really up to you. If you still enjoy putting on a costume and walking around on a cold, dark night to knock on stranger's doors asking for candy, GO FOR IT! Heck, if I have people to go with, I'll probably still go when I'm 85 riding down the street on my Rascal.

The bottom line is that it's all up to the individual, as I knew kids growing up who thought they were too old to go by the when they hit their 11th birthday, and currently know people almost in their 30's who still make the yearly rounds. If they want to go, let them, if not, maybe you can say "Let's do one last round before we toss in the towel", and have the chance to remind them how fun it can be.

I think that when you are ready to stop you can, but who would want to? I think everyone should Trick-or-Treat. Uless they cant because they have authridas. Or a friend could go Trick-orTreating for them and get them a bag.( from my opinion. )

It is not about how old you are. It's all about the candy.
