To me this is a matter of opinion. Christians would say Christ is the greatest because he is the savior of the world. Albert Einstein would be considered one of the greatest because of his brilliant mind. To me a great man may not be well known but he is someone who as a positive effect on the people around him making others a better person. This person would be selfless thinking of others needs first full of humility.

The greatest people who ever lived are the people like my parents. They raised their kids, went to work, voted, paid their taxes, and fought and in some cases died to preserve their way of life. If it weren't for the everyday people of all ages, there would be no civilization, no countries, and likely no humanity to think about these questions.
