both! And even when sending a CD, include a couple of high quality reproductions of your best work so they can see that right off the bat and it makes them want to review the CD.

It all depends on which industry you're applying to. Are you an interactive designer, print designer, general art director? etc etc.

These days, you need a website that's solid, printed quick portfolio to show examples and that's about it. Giving a cd is kind of a late 90's thing you did to impress people with your mini cd's. Remember to focus on process and what you were thinking on each piece and be able to explain them. That's the most important thing.

My resume plus a limited portfolio takes up 18 pages with 2-3 pictures/pieces per page. No one wants to look through all that, when they can get a pdf and just scroll it, stopping at whatever interests them! Plus, your printer (or theirs) may not be the quality you'd like to see your artwork printed. I put mine on a cd and it's done well for me.

the common of photographs could desire to be of useful high quality. ensure it extremely is in concentration (or a minimum of if sections are out of concentration then there's a valid reason), do no longer contain any photographs which you have photoshopped to loss of existence, interviewers would be attentive to that absolutely everyone can throw effects at a picture. in simple terms contain products that as quickly as you're requested the question, “why did you are trying this/what made you crop this photograph like this/what's the composition doing for this photograph?” you are able to answer for sure. Interviewers are searching for those with ideas and concepts, who're good communicators of those concepts – the faculty would be educating you on the concepts.
