Birdsnake, just so you know, many people who are Dems are well educated and employed in a variety of fields such as education (very predominantly Democrats), the arts, manufacturing, healthcare, and many many more. When you overgeneralize, you make people automatically discount your entire statement.
I have heard the Reps try to scare us for what seems like ever. I just stopped listening, and I hope others have, too. I thought it was funny how the Dubai Ports deal was done in by their own fear mongering! They tell us for so long how these Middle Easterners are all kinds of terrorists, then try to sell our ports to a foreign government, and were surprised when thier terrified minions balked...I'd like to see lots more of their scare tactics come back to bite them.

Scaring the public? I remember back in 1964 the democrats showed a nuc going off and promised my mother thatt if she voted for Goldwater the US would be bombing Cambodia in 6 months. I have to admit she voted for Goldwater and the democrats kept their threat. The truth is that the democrats were saying that Goldwater would expand the war when in reality Johnson did. So I guess the idea that a political party would use scare tactics doesn't belong to 1 party!!!
What about all this "global warming" BS. Is that not an attempt to scare the public??

What about the Democrat's tradition of scaring old people into believing that the Republicans want to take their social security away from them. I listened to my grandmother worry at every election because of this fear. But funny thing was, she was always getting a raise in her social security. Even when the Republicans were in office!

No, because polls show that most Americans believe that Dems are more able to keep us safe than the Reps.
There's only so long you can live in this sort of amorphous fear before you just get tired. Plus, Reps have been so obvious with their fearmongering that people can't help but wake up. Really? The terror alert level goes up only before elections or when Bush needs a popularity boost? Huh.

Given the court rulings in NY, CA, and WA on same-sex marriage, and assuming that no other state courts are going to rule in favor of same-sex marriage, then the only scare tactics that will work this campaign season are the Democrats'. You know, scaring the public with "corporate America" and "big oil" and things like that. The usual Democrat strategy.

The Republicans IMO are running scared themselves and the election will be decided upon the people who vote either way!

No, but I do think that the Democratic Party's traditional use of scaring the public about the Republican bogeymen will help THEM again this election...

I think it's been so overdone that it may well backfire, big time.
We've all seen the little man behind the curtain, but this time he has no solutions. Only the ones who really want to be fooled will be. Is that why elections are held close to Halloween?

No ! It is about all they have tho. Bush and the Republicans trashed our country to get elected last time. Iraq is such a disaster, that I don't think many will vote for Republicans.
