Contact lenses require a prescription, which generally means you need a parent's permission if you're a minor.

Colored contacts work best when you enhance the color you already have, rather than trying a completely different color. Brown eyes, for example, can be smoky or golden, but don't look quite as vivid with blue contacts. Grey eyes, however, can be a convincing deep green or blue, but look a little less vivid in browns. Most eye facilities will let you try on the different colors to see what they will look like or will at least show you how the different colored contacts look on different eye colors.

The best place to get contacts is at an optometrist's office with a doctor referred to as an "O.D." There they will do a very thorough eye exam as well as measuring for a good fit. Although contacts are pretty common and can be worn comfortably with few problems, there are many bad things that can happen to your eyes (yes, including going blind) if you are not careful with contacts, so don't skimp in getting your first pair. And do follow all of the doctor's instructions very carefully. You should be asked to come back for a follow-up visit to check fit and the care of your contacts. Don't skip this appointment.

If you have insurance, insurance usually pays for the doctor's visit and either contacts or glasses but not always for both although you should still have a pair of glasses handy when you have contacts.

I have worn contacts for about 20 years now and love them, but I'm still very cautious because I've had friends who have had ulcers on their eyes and other complications from being careless with their contact lense habits, so if you are going to be lazy and neglect to clean them as often as you should or take them out when you should, I'd advise against getting them.

You should definitely get contact lenses from an eye doctor. As for the best color, go with one that compliments your skin tone and highlights your eyes. Some colors will look great on you, others might look unnatural. Make sure you can put them in & take them out yourself before you leave the eye doctor's office, and make sure you pay close attention when learning how to care for the lenses. You could get an eye infection if you don't care for them properly. Also, they do take some getting used to.
Good luck!

If you DO NOT need them to see.... don't waste your $$

If you still feel that you want them, then go to an optometrist, have and eye exam and fitting done. You will need your parents probably to take you there or sign the insurance bill if you're under 18.

Eye Doctors like regular MD's are not cheap. DO NOT screw around with money and have a halfassed job done, YOU GET TWO (2) EYES TO LAST YOUR LIFETIME, TAKE CARE OF THEM!!!!!!

The eye exam for contacts is different than it is for glasses. Even if you don't need contacts for vision correction, and only want to wear them for cosmetic purposes (such as the colored ones), you still have to get the exam done. I don't wear the colored ones, but there are websites where you can go to get matched.

you should choose whatever color you feel confortable with. you should probaly bring your parents because they will need to fill out paper work. they dont measure your eyes but they check them and see how your vision is oind. the eyedoctor is teh best place to get them, there are stores that you can buy them from, but it would be best if you were to get them from an eyedoctor like eye optical.
