The first edition was QuickBooks 1.0 released in the fall of 1990. The first release for Windows 3.1 was 2.0 released in 1993. There was also a DOS 2.0 but Windows sales quickly outstripped the DOS version and DOS was discontinued. The Windows versions stepped up through 6.0 after which the naming convention was changed to match the current year which at the time was 99.
