I'm interviewing for a job and the employer asked for a background check. Problem is, I have a conviction about three months ago. How long does it take to show up in the databases?

i hope you answered honestly on the application. if not it will be harder to explain when it shows up. they usually show up right away. so even if it was for something very minor that they may have overlooked, lying on the application most likely will not be overlooked. keep this in mind in the future. good luck.

Depends on how far the employer wants the check to go. I would be honest up front and tell them - you'll have a better chance of getting the job.

It will probably already be on your record. If it is a mis. it will probably not make much difference in whether or not you got the job.
