I'd have a day when families get together and celebrate the birth of someone from ages ago, and exchange gifts and eat turkey. Then I'd make everyone watch James Bond and the Queens speech. I would start the day off with a fry-up, then down the pub for a few beers, then to my Nans and have my massive dinner, then drink 3 bottles of wine and be indecent in front of my cousins new girlfriend. Then I'd move onto Vodka and go in the garden for a wee. Then I would eat half a bowl of trifle and start telling everyone how much I have spent on their present, and get all angry and worked up. Then I'd sit in a room on my own and cry for a while. Then I'd compose myself and go back downstairs, bleary-eyed and clumsy, I'd eat some cold turkey out the fridge. Then I'd puke in the sink. I would have this day near the end of December, like the 25th or something. I'd call it.... Winter Get Together Drunk Day, or Jesus Day, or Nativity Holiday, or something like that. And everyone would be drunk, and homeless people and people who live alone will dread the day, and spend the whole time crying and contemplating suicide.

Do you think it will catch on?

I think we need a Bank Holiday around October, not for any particular day, but there just isn't one between the August Bank holiday and Christmas. All Saints Day or Bonfire Night would be a good time...both the beginning of November

I would have a Bank Holiday to celebrate freedom from School. I think it would be a national stay-in-bed-as-long-as-you-like day.

Eccentric day, where we celebrate being an eccentric nation. We'd sell to the rest of the world as this great tourist day, and there'd be a big canival (there's not nearly enough carnivals in the UK) with lots of old British customs on the parade (e.g. morris dancing, the straw bear, the green man, pancake racing, egg and spoon parades, guy falkes etc). The even would be hosted by Stephen Fry.

I would call it, the caring bank holiday, so people can get together and do kind things for the more unfortunate people around them ie the elderly, children, animals, homeless etc. a caring bank holiday is what we need these days.
