- Lifelong attachment to teams from your state
- Attachment to schools that you attended or that friends and family attended
- Less predictable, therefore more exciting. They are kids and kids can make mistakes
- Because so many teams play in a bowl game at the end of the year, more of the games mean something and there is more to play for
- Rivalries create special games every year

It's a much more wide open game with varrying offenses and defenses. No two games look alike and no two teams look too much alike either. If you compare the NFL to college, you will see that the NFL teams all look a bit similar in how their offenses work and how their defenses work. Also the NFL keeps players on their teams for longer than four years, usually, where, in college, five years is the most anyone gets to play.
So I truly enjoy watching the college game over the NFL game. It's more exciting, the cheerleaders are cuter, and it's much more entertaining too.

There is so much esprit de corps in college football. From the fans to the players, everyone is rooting for their team to win solely on the basis of school pride. I will watch a college game long before a professional game any day.

Because the kids that play the game are playing for the LOVE of the game and NOT MONEY. You tend to lose some enthusiasm when you're being paid to play. Plus, the bands playing your teams fight-song is a great feeling for, not only the players, but the fans. That's something that's unfortunately not a part of the professional game.

More tradition and more drama.

for at least 80% of us it's about watching our alma mata do well.

for a bunch of others (especially in places like Nebraska where there isn't a pro team) it's the closest thing to the NFL for the locals.

the kids are also playing for pride, not money.

I like it because the players really seem to care about their schools and teams, as opposed to the NFL, where the players tend to focus on dollar signs and drama.
