Oh yes, my friend first pregnancy she was told she was having a girl, she bought all girls clothes, decorated the nursery pink etc. Then when baby was born is was a boy! She was really gutted as the shops wouldn't refund or exchange the clothes because she had had them too long!

I think it sometimes to do with the way the baby is lay, so he obstructs the image of his winkie! I think it's so amazing how detailed the pictures are when they are only produced from sound. So I suppose there will always be mistakes x

Yes, doctors can be wrong. They are human beings that rely on their tools (their experience, education, and technology) in order to do the best they can. Medicine is not a perfect science, especially because NOT all bodies are the same. It is much easier to work with machines because they are generally manufactured to be the same, but human bodies are all different and a doctor can just do the best with what he/she has to work with. If they cannot see the penis, then they can only assume it is a girl, because usually when they do not see a penis, it means it is a girl. If you want them to always be exact or say nothing at all, they would never say anything, because there are ALWAYS exceptions to the rule in medicine.

ya, the doctor's have been wrong. Don't go off the idea that the heart rate determines the sex. The doctor's told me I was having a girl, and it turned out I had a boy. good luck.

The only sure way to determind the sex of a baby is through amniocentisis. Ultrasounds are only as good as the person that is performing it. I was fortunate to have two correct sex determining ultrasounds, but, I have heard of others that have been surprised at birth.
