This is absurd.

Even though there are a large number of humans on the planet, we are all genetically *extremely* similar. The author's predictions are founded on a very unlikely situation: that social-economic conditions and what people find attractive (which is dependent on culture and varies from place to place - not everyone in the world thinks that Western ideal of beauty are all that great!) will present enough of a barrier to reproduction between groups (those who have good access to resources and who have the luxury of choosing pretty mates, and those who do not have such access and luxury) that two discrete forms will emerge.

Whatever! Humans from all over manage to travel and interbreed. There will be no cessation to the exchange of genetic material between human populations, and though minor differences may emerge - y'know, like Sherpas' lungs can extract more oxygen from the air than other peoples' - the overall genetic diversity of the species will only get smaller. Humans are probably not going to evolve any more. The only way such a drastic divergence could occur is if there was some kind of really huge separation between human populations - I mean, like one population on Earth and another on another planet - that were separated for a very long time. More likely, we'll all be wiped out by a disease that our tiny gene pool can't handle before anything like the author's predictions occur.

And anyway, you can't predict evolution because you can't predict the conditions that we'll be living in in the future.

Personally I think he's wrong. Sooner or later all humans will realize that maintaining our current ideal (like Angelina Jolie or Tyra Banks) is too hard and not really worth the effort (especially with technology separating us further and further from contact), and we'll eventually just accept a different norm (specifically Norm, from Cheers). So we'll all be getting shorter and fatter because we will all let ourselves go and if you want some shorter and fatter is what you'll have to take.

I don't actually see mankind evolving in this manner. If things don't change rather quickly we will have done one of two things 1) destroyed the planet due to overpopulation problems 2) Destroyed the planet with TNW.
