My ex-boyfriend is threatening to take me to small claims court over a dictionary that he gave me a few months ago. He was abusive, and I don't want to let him intimidate me. Can I counter-sue him for expenses while dating? He never picked up the tab on anything...

Have him take you to court. You'll probably end up winning if he gave you the dictionary as a gift. He'll look stupid in court and that's your revenge. You can counter sue with expenses you incurred too. Make sure you have proof of everything though.

If it gets him out of your life, give him the stupid dictionary!
Don't counter sue him, he is not worth it. I don't even know how much it would stand up in court because you two weren't legally married.
Just get him out of your life and get on with yours!

Just give it back to him, threaten to take out a court order if he ever bothers you again, cut your losses. Just be grateful you don't have to see this loser again. Remember, trouble will follow some people wherever they go.

Sweetie, he's not taking you to court. He's trying to see if he can control you. No judge is going to take his case seriously. If he does end up in court, you can make a case against his abuse.
