Patriotism to me is questioning our government if we don't agree with policies and not simply pledging blind allegiance. To answer your question yes patriotism can be the same as "paralyed above the neck" but it can also be actually using the area "above the neck".............

Do you mean the first 75 years with slavery? That's wrong.
Anyway, if one is patriotic, it doesn't mean one can't criticize our political leaders. If you are truly patriotic, it is your responsibility to criticize. It is the fools that don't criticize and blindly follow that are "paralyzed above the neck" They aren't patriotic.
America's prime is WWII to today. Winning WWII, civil rights, man on the moon, winning the Cold War. But if we don't watch it we are going to lose the spirit that build this country. From multiculturalism and socialism to erosion of individual rights, both sides of the political spectrum need to look back and see that America's true roots are. We need to return to the Constitution and entrepreneurship.

On the other hand, if one is unhappy with what he has, he has a choice of discarding it, repairing it or just leaving it for someone else. Just because it is old doesn't mean it is unworthy of respect. My grand-mother was old before she died, but I loved her as much as I did when she was young. Yes, she was MY grandmother and the BEST grandmother that I had. When my children make mistakes I still love them even though I have to discipline them to encourage them to do right. Actually, thoughts as your question asks, cause my posterior to want a dip of snuff instead of me being paralyzed above the neck.

No one forces you to live here. Please feel free to stink up some other country with your stupidity.
Let me make a prediction, you will continue your whining in your new country.
