I was told & tried too, washing it with towels. Then adding a 1\2 cup of white vinger to the rinse cycle. This removes water chemicals that build up over time. Before I had trouble with the plastic going hard. A few minutes in the dryer on low heat & it comes out soft & pliable. The heat softens the plastic. You don't need to dry it. Just soften it. Hang to dry the rest of it. I have washed my current curtain a number of times. Before I had literally ruined them by washing them. Hope this helps.

It depends on what material your shower curtains are made out of. Assuming they are plastic, add a cup of bleach to your washer load with the shower curtains, and a white towel. Use the gentle cycle. Then just hang the shower curtains back up..don't put them in the dryer if they are plastic.

If it's a fabric curtain, just machine wash it in reg. detergent. Maybe a little oxy wash too. When my plastic liners used to (I have glass shower and tub enclosures now) look bad, I washed them, then folded them up to use for dropcloths. Bought new liners because they cost very little.

Usually I just put it through on the delicate cycle then add a bit of lemon juice to the rinse to help resist any soap buildup.

If you are talking about the plastic liner, I put mine in with a towel, put it on short wash and add vinegar to rinse water and hang back up to dry.

Use CLR in the washing machine, or use a Mr. Clean sponge.

Get some tilex. Spray all over and let it sit for a few minutes and then rinse off. If you still have to soap scum on it, spray a little more and scrub off.
