well hopefully next spring i will be moving to NY does anyone have any good advice?? Also I have been looking on the web for resources about the different neighborhoods and cant find anything... I have been there a few times but living is something entirely different.

Manhattan is one of the priciest markets in the country. If you are buying it will cost you give or take 1000 per sf. of living space. If you rent it will cost you at least 2000/month. I don't know what profession your are in but if money is not an object then welcome to NYC. There are cheaper alternatives to living in NYC such as parts of Brooklyn, Queens and The Bronx. They are short commutes depending on where you are looking.
