The ones I've had have all been fine.
A cheap £25 job from the local supermarket, uses 1 AAA battery.
An InnoAX iMX330 512Mb built in LiOn bettery with OLED display charged via USB.. lost on bus but was fine 12 months after purchase.
A Sumvision Opus Pro 1Gb OLED display built in LiOn battery charged via USB or supplied charger, still working fine but only a couple of months old.
I won't buy any Ipod because these do die and Apple don't want to know unless you cough up. Also can't drag n drop files to / from them without 3rd party software.

I bought iRiver mp3 players for my kids. They are still going strong after almost one year. I have talked to others who bought more expensive ipods and they were both dead after a year.

If it is a Creative Zen, then my answer is yes . My son's gave endless trouble.

no you probably got a crappy one, i suggest you get a refund. ipods are probably the best out there they are the most substantial and they are probably the best feature and techno whys. go out and by an ipod nano, i have one and they are awesome!

wat do u mean by dead? the battery? well if it is then make sure u use a good quality battery or rechargables if i use either of these in mine it works for a long time!
