Any good non-abrasive, non-solvent cleaner will do just fine.
You can get special screen cleaner wipes and sprays, if you want to be cautious

I used to have severe problems keeping my laptop screen clean. I bought wipes that pull out from a container. However there is not a proper seal on the container and the moisture on the wipes which is probably alcohol based soon evaporates before the wipes are half finished. They are then useless.
I came across a product called Plasma/LCD/TFT gel screen cleaner which is a spray with a sealed cap. There is a name on it called IXOS. The gel does not contain alcohol so does not evaporate. Along with the gel you get a soft rounded top cloth type material that you simply draw across the screen to remove the gel which cleans as you draw it across the screen. It is absolutely brilliant.
I got this product at PC World where I also got my laptop. If anything happens to my screen PC World can't say I cleaned it with the wrong thing because they sold it to me. This is important for either normal warranty or extended warranty

Check out some stuff called Monster Cleaner made by Monster. You should be able to get it at any electronics store. It's about $30 for a bottle and cloth, but it's made specifically for LCD screens and high definition televisions. It doesn't have any alcohol or anything in it that might otherwise damage your laptop screen.

At work I use Windowlene and lint free cloths.
If you have a Poundland nearby, they actually sell a display cleaning kit which works well.
They also sell a lens cleaning kit with puffer brush etc. works well.
Do not apply too much pressure to your LCD screens, you can damage them.
Do not clean them while they're on.

I clean it with good ol' glass cleaner. No harm done. Spray on your paper towel first, then wipe.

I use cleaning wipes, I suppose you could just use a slightly damp cloth.
