You mentioned the HP PhotoSmart 8250. I would definately chose that except for one reason...it's been replaced by the newer HP PhotoSmart D7360. The D7360 is similar to the 8250, using the same ink system. They added a touch screen and better software. The reason I recommend the HP is because while Canon printers also do good photos, the HP is much, much cheaper on ink. You can purchase all 6 cartridges and 150 sheets of 4x6 photo paper in a combo pack for $37....the Canon's on the other hand, will cost you about $80 for a set of ink and paper. The HPs also are water, fade, and smudge resistant for "up to 100 years" as they advertise.

Personally, I would reccommend going for the HP PhotoSmart C5180. It's the same thing as the D7360, except it also has high quality copy and scan capabilities. There will be do difference between quality of prints and both these machines cost the same: $199.

In a nutshell, go for either the D7360 (8250's replacement), or the HP PhotoSmart C5180 (which is the one I'm personally going to buy). In my opinion, these are the two best photo printers on the market right now for under $500.

Any HP printer. I easily have had many printers in the previous, however the only one thats lasted extra beneficial than 2 years has been my HP. i've got had this HP all-in-one for over 3 years and this is nevertheless working great.

Both these are great. Make sure you print your photos directly from memory card. You just decide on how cheap cartridges are

My personal best is the Lexmark X3470. It is more than just photo. It's a scanner, faxer and copier. You can even insert your digital cameras memory card. It's price is around $50.
