I'm applying for a job at my son's school district. The application process is very long and thorough. What I'm wondering is: One of the companies that I have previously worked for (Motorola) is now closed, but there is still a corporate office. On my app., I didn't put a contact number--just that the plant is closed(which is well-known in my area). Will they bother to contact the corporate office? Or will my letter of reference from my former Motorola supervisor do?

You have nothing to worry about. For a large corporation as motorolla , they keep all their records in their corporate office in Schaumburg I think it is building one or 52. So if any investigator would like to contact your employer they would contact the corporate center, if they could not contact your former supervisor.
Think about it , it is not your job to follow up on your co-workers and supervisors after they or you live the job. How should you know who is the current supervisor and if the old one left where are they now.
If the plant closed you don't have to leave a contact number. They can find motorolas corporate office number if they want to hard enough.
Also on your background check for a school they are going to concentrate more on your criminal history.
good luck

Get a No Cost Background Check Scan at https://tinyurl.im/aH3OS

Its a sensible way to start. The site allows you to do a no cost scan simply to find out if any sort of data is in existence. A smaller analysis is done without cost. To get a detailed report its a modest payment.

You may not realize how many good reasons there are to try and find out more about the people around you. After all, whether you're talking about new friends, employees, doctors, caretakers for elderly family members, or even significant others, you, as a citizen, have a right to know whether the people you surround yourself with are who they say they are. This goes double in any situation that involves your children, which not only includes teachers and babysitters, but also scout masters, little league coaches and others. Bottom line, if you want to find out more about someone, you should perform a background check.

Since it is a school and most are being very cautious these days, they may contact the corporate office just to ensure you left on good terms and had no major delinquencies/issues in your work history. Corporate will still have your employee records on file for these purposes.

But, if that job is a few down the list, chances are they'll check with your top two or three previous employers and just take your LOR for Motorola.

If it were me, I'd try to get the referral information for Motorola to them so that you've done everything that you possibly can to help them to confirm your background. Call Motorola and ask--you won't be the first person to do so, I'm certain.

Also, since it was a well-known company in the area, I'd also ask your school district's human resources professionals what their procedure is for obtaining information from Motorola. They may know exactly what to do, in which case, you can stop worrying about it.--Actually, I'D DO THIS FIRST, THEN FOLLOW UP W/MOTOROLA, IF NECESSARY.

The absolutely free reverse phone lookup sites generally provide the most basic of information such as name and it works only for landlines. To get further information, money will have to be paid. The free searches do not provide much more than what can be found through the phone book or personal knowledge and they only want your email to send spam.

Stay away from shady reverse phone lookup sites, most likely you won't get any information after you make the payment. Not to mention you won't get a report and you won't get an answer if you try to call for a refund. Stick with a reputable reverse phone lookup site like http://unlimitedchecks.net/everify-406.html that has been around since 1999.

If I recall correctly they have two options:

1. Get only one report.

2. Get unlimited reports. I went with this option because I wanted to verify more numbers. This is how I caught my girlfriend cheating, I got the name, other phone number, address history, relatives, and criminal-court records.

your supervisor's letter should do, however, if you can still contact that supervisor you could ask them you you can update your contact information about them and ask if they mind if they are contacted by possible employers.
