Rhyming is of course the first thing that comes to mind and carries with it a connotation of 'being rather cute'...however, there is a time in the wild, when the berries ferment that multitudes of animals eat the berries and get very inebriated from them.....they seem to love the high and wobble from side to side...it is hilarious...see we are NOT the only ones for a penchant to celebrate the harvest season!!!! This goes for badgers, raccoons and bears as well as so many other animals I do not know of! Interesting huh?

in the early days of tombstone there was a notorious family headed by a man named john skunk. the were a bunch of drunkards by and large. always staggering down the street and just generally were a public nuisance. very nice people but given to drink a whole lot. therefore the phrase drunk as a skunk began.

Are you sure skunks don't get drunk? We don't know where they hang out when it is dark, now do we?

Probably because the two words rhyme, and the strong smell of the latter can be intoxicating
