You don't say if it's a physical speaker problem, if it's a computer problem, if it's the internal pc speaker or multimedia speakers. Have you ensured the drivers for the sound card are working? If you mean the internal speaker, enter setup as your computer starts up (usually by pressing delete or something) and there is usually an option there to turn the pc speaker on or off. It may just be called beep or it may be pc speaker.

1) Check the volume control button on the bottom right of the taskbar, left click and check that the Mute button is not ticked. If you left click on the button of the slider you should hear a sound. Double click it and check the volume control panel is set correctly.
2) Go to Start - Control Panel - Sounds and Audio Devices. Work through all the tabs and troubleshooters in the Volume tab.
3) Check your soundcard has the driver installed; and that the onboard sound was disabled after you installed the card.

1) plug the speakers into your ipod to see if they actually work, if you get sound, they work
2) check your volume settings in EVERYTHING which includes media player, real player, speaker volume and any other software you have installed with the sound card
3) check yu have set up the sound card for the correct type of speakers (if you have set it up for 5.1 dolby digital and are running a set of headphones, it wont work because the device will not be able to decode the signal)
4) check the sound card still works by plugging in another set of speaker (or your ipod headphones)

Make sure the jacks are plugged in correctly. Make sure the volume control sliders on the computer are correct (on your desktop, not on the speaker). Also make sure the volume on the speaker itself is set correctly.
Try reinstalling your soundcard drivers also if the above doesn't help.

go to RUN type in sndvol32 then click OK if the sound controls dont come up then u will have no sound in other words you will have to download the drivers for your soundcard. if it is an onboard card it will most likely be a AC97 realtek just go to realtek .com and get the drivers. if you have the control panel up, then check all your leads are connected properly and that there is power going into your speakers. other than that get new speakers

Too many variables to answer! You need details such as, did it work before? Do you see your speaker icon in the taskbar? Did you recently reformat? etc....

It just depends on how old the speaker is, and what kind it is. Then you could just research that brand and maybe even need to buy a new one.

Go thru the OSI model work your way down from the application layer to the physical layer. if the model does not answer your issue try re-submitting your question in "computers other". More appropriate.............
