The circumferene is pi*the diameter, so the diameter of the button is 9.42/pi = 3 cm. The buttonhole needs to be at least that big. What a large button!

Divide 9.42 by pi, that should give you the diameter of the button. I guess that could work as the length of the buttonhole.
