I'm noticing logos on increasingly ridiculous stuff, and I don't get it -- who is paying more money for ugly tube socks with a Hilfiger, Nike, &c brand/logo on them? They definitely aren't "designer," and the quality usually seems pretty unimpressive.

When I see somebody all decked out in a pile of visible logos, I think:

http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Wikisaurus:chav

But somebody must like it, so -- explanations, please.

NB: this isn't "do you wear 'designer' clothes?" I just mean run-of-the-mill junk like t-shirts -- but with visible labels. Especially t-shirts. $30+ legible t-shirts. Track suits, for heavens' sakes...

I couldn't have put it any better. To be honest, it's almost upchucking how pubecent teens nowadays, feel as though "Designer Brands" include those of Roxy, American Eagle, Tommy Hilfiger, hell even Donna Karan, etc. I would definitely leave those brands for grade school, NOT junior college. I know most people can't afford to live a la Neiman Marcus and such, but with a job and great saving ethics, you can absolutely score major digs. Personally, my favorite way to display a much desired logo is on a purse. I hate those cheapo replicas as well, they are so easy to spot. If you're going to sport a designer bag, take the plunge and buy authentic. I hate to be snakey, but the cerises SHOULD NOT overlap the LV's.
xD

I have never been a person to choose clothing items because of a particular label. I choose clothing that I like the fit, and quality and feel. I do not pick items by brand, other than my running shoes and workout shoes as certain brands fit my feet and provide the cushioning and motion control that I need.

A lot of people who "have" to wear certain brands think that it is in, or cool or whatever the term of the hour is. I have seen people wearing things that look horrible on them, but they are more concerned about the fact that so-and-so wore it on TV than if it looks good or is comfortable or not.

The run-of the mill junk (not junque...haha) that you speak of just enables people who really cannot afford the "designer" items to feel as if they are participating in the fad.

All generations have gone through this since media has come into our lives. I wanted certain things when I was a teenager that were "popular" then; that doesn't mean that my parents would purchase them. I would have to work to earn the money for items that were considered non-essential.

You do realize that a great deal of of the lesser quality items are knock-offs and not liscensed items from the original company. A lot of this type of thing plays into whatever the latest fad is, I still cringe when I see women going around with logos across the backside of shorts...no matter how young and cute they are.

The only thing worse was if some of these people were walking around less-clothed, so I will choose the junk ts and socks and track suits in that case. Have a good label-less day!

I don't like to wear labels. the only 'known name brand' clothing i own is a Columbia jacket, because i know it is a good reliable brand that will last me a few years. Other than that, i buy what ever is on sale, i couldn't be bothered wasting my money to buy a 150$ pair of shoes/ shirt/ jeans, etc, when a 30$ pair will do just the same.

Personally I do wear socks that are Nike.. Basically I only wear the Nike socks because it ends up being cheaper.. I have to wear steal toed shoes to one of my jobs.. All of the different socks I have tried at walmart i could only wear a few times until they had holes in them.. The Tommy socks I have had so far have lasted a year..

As for the name brand clothes, yes I do wear them because I get all of the "new styles" in the mail for free..

Not typically. I don't see the need in paying to advertise a specific brand. I really can't stand screenprinting on the butt either. And girls wonder why they get harassed? They're drawing attention to the very things they don't want guys to judge them by. Do they really expect to be taken seriously with words like juicy, hot stuff, and melon emblazoned on their chest and butt?

You know everyone do not make the income that you do. I say to hell with name brand if you can buy a knock off go for get. If some
one get upset about what you have on than you know someone is checking you out.

I don't like labels, keep them on the inside thank you very much. I think wearing labels out there is crass and tacky
