Pleading guilty or accepting a plea bargain would end the need for a trial. Trials are for people who plead "not guilty" then it is up to the prosecution to meet it's burden of proof with the judge or jury who would decide whether the defendant is guilty or not guilty. You really need to consult with your lawyer and get advice that pertains to your exact situation before you decide to make any plea or accept any plea bargains. Nobody here can advise you in a helpful way without knowing every bit of information about your case and past record.

In federal court you're going to be sentenced according to the federal guidelines. The judge has very little room to divert from the recommendation.
Before entering a plea of guilty make sure you've discussed it with your attorney. If at all possible try to negotiate the charges down to a lesser offense, or if multiple charges, try to get all but one dropped.

Umm, no. If you plead guilty your subjecting your self to the max. Pleading no contest is better odds. Best way to go in my experience is to plead not guilty and then put the trial out. Generally they will offer a plea bargain that is less then what you would normally be faced with. It really all depends on if this your first offense.

If you plead guilty, you waive a trial and subject yourself to the conseqeuences of a conviction, including sentencing to imprisonment. No one should EVER plead guilty to a criminal charge without conferring with an attorney & understanding the consequences of his plea.

By pleading guilty; you are showing the court that you are a person of reason and willing to own up to the consiquences of your actions. With that said you will make it easier for the DA/Judge to apply much more leniency when it comes to deciding on the sentance (punishment) going forward.
