In the school systems, any teaching job will require a 4 year college degree. You can become a para-professional with 2 years of college, but those jobs don't pay very well.

each state and some school districts have their own requirements, some allow you to work as a classroom assistant with as little as a high school diploma, and others that will not allow you to work in a classroom until you have a minimum of 6 units and a minimum amt of classroom experience, others need even more and it can also depend on wether you work in a daycare facility, or for headstart program.
call around to a few different schools or daycares or ck online at some website, and keep your eyes on the local want ads they often list what they require.

Typically, the minimum job requirement is a Child Development Assistant Permit which requires a high school diploma and completion of six early childhood education units (ECE).
And you must be smarter than a three-year-old.

You will have to look up your state's/prefecture's requirements to see what the law requires in order to become a preschool teacher.
Also, try looking at Monster.com or hotjobs.com to see what Preschool jobs in your area are asking for as far as qualifications.
