5x-1/6=6x-5/6
5x=6x+1
5x-6x=1
-1x=1
x= -1
how did you get 3 1/6??

5x-1/6 = 6x-5/6
5x-1/6+5/6= 6x
4/6 = 6x-5x
2/3 = x
check
5(2/3) -1/6 = 6(2/3) - 5/6
10/3 -1/6 = 12/3 - 5/6
20/6 -1/6 = 24/6 - 5/6
19/6 = 19/6
3 1/6 = 3 1/6
so you answer would appear to be correct whereas in fact
the value of x is 2/3 NOT 3 1/6
go through my reasoning to understand what is going on in order that you might learn to do it yourself next time

5x-(1/6) = 6x-(5/6)
add the 5/6 to both sides
5x+(4/6) = 6x
subtract 5x from both sides
4/6 = x
no, 3 1/6 does not equal 4/6

5x-1/6=6x-5/6 Add 1/6 to both sides, it'll cancel out the -1/6 on the one side.
5x=6x-4/6 Subtract 6x from both sides.
-x= -4/6
x=4/6 or 2/3

5x - 1/6 = 6x-5/6
x = 5/6 - 1/6
= 4/6 = 2/3
so, ur answer is wrong. why? look at this:
u got x = 3 1/6 = 19/6
LHS = 5x - 1/6
= 95/6 - 1/6 = 94/6 = 47/3
RHS = 6x - 5/6
= 114/6 - 5/6
= 109/6
now, u can see that LHS not = RHS
so ur answer is wring
MY ANSWER
x = 2/3
LHS = 10/3 - 1/6
= 20/6 - 1/6 = 19/6
RHS = 12/3 - 5/6
= 24/6 - 5/6
= 19/6
So, LHS = RHS

When you solve an equation, bring everything with "x" variable to one side of the equation, and everything with just plain numbers on the other side
5x - 1/6 = 6x - 5/6
5/6-1/6 = 6x - 5x
4/6 = x
so, x = 4/6 or 2/3

5x -1/6 = 6x - 5/6
6x - 5/6 = 5x - 1/6 (easier this way)
x -5/6 = -1/6 (subtract 5x from both sides)
x = 4/6 = 2/3 (add 5/6 to both sides)

5x-1/6=6x-5/6
-5x+5/6=-5x+5/6
4/6=1x
x=4/6 or 2/3
if solving for x then answer is as above. but u are right the sums of each side is 19/6 or 3 1/6

I'm pretty sure it's "x = 2/3", but I'm no mathematician. Check out my algebra - your call! -
5x - 6x = - 5/6 + 1/6 (Puting all the unknowns on one side)
- 1x = - 4/6 (Combining values)
x = 4/6 (Adjusting signs)
x = 2/3 (Reducing to simplest fraction)
Let me know who's right. If you think you're right, show me your calculations.
