Weight yourself five times. Record the weight each time. If the scale gives the exact same thing every time, it's precise. If it sometimes gives slightly different answers, it's not precise. Also remember that something can be COMPLETELY INACCURATE, and STILL be PRECISE. Your scale may be broken, so it'll say you weight 900 pounds. Still, if it says 900 everytime YOU step on it, it's very precise.

Hi. Abdullah R is correct. But the scale can be very precise and very in-accurate at the same time. Precision implies repeatability.

Firstly it is spelt 'PRECISION'.
YOu could proceed thus:
Say your wt comes out as 'n' lbs. The least count of your machine is 1lb. So the max error you could commit in your measurement is 1lb. So the percent error is (1/n)*100. the precision is the remaning thing, ie your measurement is (1-(1/n))*100% precise.

have had this problem ....this is what I did....I weighed a bag of sugar and made note of the weight of it.....
